Monday--Sea Day--Part 3

While we were enjoying a tasty meal at the brunch, the Captain announced we would be sailing through the Straits of Messina, which brings the ship very close to Sicily. In an effort to memorialize my Italian heritage during this trip through Italy, I wanted to get some photos of Sicily. More than a 100 years ago my grandparents emigrated from Sicily to the United States...I knew this may very well be as close as I would ever get to the place of their birth.

Sicily

Straits of Messina

Wish we had a port stop in Sicily or Messina

While strolling along the deck, we happened to notice an incredible smell coming from the pool area. We had recently come from lunch, but that didn't stop us from investigating....our nose lead the way to even more food out on deck. After all the food in the dining room, could they possibly temp us with anything more? Simple answer...YES. Who knew that they were having an Octoberfest, complete with German music and a whole roasted pig for the folks who had decided to laze by the pool and soak up some sun. We debated for a minute or two, then grabbed a plate and both tried more salad and some delicious German wurst. Just a couple gluttons for punishment. If I keep eating like this, I'll look like the piggy on buffet table!

A total shock for us...guess I should read the daily food listing a little more closely

Not sure how German the desserts were here

Our hard working crew...always willing to pile more food on your plate

Oink...

We both love good crispy wurst...this did not disappoint...so yummy :)

It was time for me to meet with the photographer to review the renewal pictures. A couple hours later and I was finally ready to change for Elegant Tea at Muranos. Have I mentioned lately we ate a lot on our last sea day????

Next up...Formal Tea, Martini Bar, then our last formal night dinner
