Saturday into Sunday---Halo Barcelona!

I am pleased to say, our walk through the Barcelona airport to retrieve our baggage (YES everything arrived--I will NOT be renewing my wedding vows in the pair of jeans I've been traveling in), stop at the restroom, and process through customs, took a total of only 10 minutes. It took longer than that at Heathrow to get into the line, that allowed us into the room, to get into another the line....you get my point :) The day is behind us...the night awaits....and it was a wonderful ending to a day of ups and downs.

Our taxi ride to the hotel was smooth (except for the charge per bag fee....yes, yes, yes....these two over packing junkies always pay for it in the long run--and we knew it was coming--just not overly fond of it!), and we arrived at the hotel around 10. Once again easy check in--the room was perfect for one night, and although we would learn about the paper thin walls the next morning, it served our immediate purpose. Off we went to find dinner and a drink....I think we really deserved a quiet meal, a real one.....not something served on a plastic tray table.

Loved all the built in shelves to hold our bathroom stuff.

Hard, very firm mattress...who cares...it's a BED!!!

The last bathtub (a mini one at that) we would see for two weeks.

Typical in a european hotels....a foot bath....no silly...it's a bidet....seriously....I like it as a place to wash my tired tootsies :)

A small sidewalk cafe a short walk from our hotel fit the bill...all I can say is YUM! At the same cafe, we met a group of three US airline employees, who were sharing a drink on a layover in Barcelona. They often work this same travel route, and when we found out that we had ordered their favorite meal on the menu...I knew we were in for a treat. It was beer time, then our wonderful dinner arrived. It would be an understatement to say it was good..the flavors of the saffron and others spices in the paella, were delicious. Even after eating, and eating, and eating..we never saw the bottom of the pan. We shared our bounty with our fellow compatriots, and there was still food in the dish, when we pushed our plates away. It was such a huge "serving for 2" I think if we had continued eating....we may just be finishing up right about now :). By midnight, it was time to call it a night....a nice leisurely stroll back to our room, and our heads hit the pillow soon thereafter.

Drink up....you deserve it honey!

Ok, you know my afternoon was a bit rough but really????

Nope, fooled you...just lemon soda :)

At last....real food....yes!

Two very happy campers....dig in...eat up

Our tummies are filled...the memories of our final hours in London are fading fast....all I can say.....we have a whole 14 days before we have to go back to Heathrow and get on another plane...that must count for something?!?

Next up--the Century awaits....
